Each week one of our fabulous writers will be published here on our classroom blog, in celebration of their hard work...
Long, long ago
Rangi and Papatuanuku lay on the ground. They had six sons. It was a very
cramped, dark life. Their parents were above them. The children decided to push
their parents apart. Tù tried first then Tangaroa tried second, then
Tawhirimatea tried third and then Tàne helped. Tàne did it. When he
pushed their parents apart the parents cried and cried. The Maori still say
that when it rains, it is because Rangi the sky father is crying.

This piece of writing was completed over 3 days. We were focusing on organising our ideas, so on day one we wrote the beginning, the middle on the next day, and on the final day we completed the writing and edited. Alen added lots of detail to his retelling of the story "In the Beginning" and even added descriptive vocabulary such as 'cramped'. Keep it up Alen!
