Primary Science Week ~ Discovery Time Experiements

We had such fun with a range of science experiments on Friday...

We used our observational skills to watch what happens when...

You make a food colouring rain cloud...

Step 1: Fill up a see-through jug with water and add a layer of shaving foam on top.

Why doesn't the foam mix with the water?

Step 2: Pour the food colouring on top of the shaving foam...

What will happen next?

Step 3: Add in more colours...

What will happen when the colours meet?

You make milk dance...

Step 1: Fill a bowl with full-fat milk and drop a range of food colouring onto the surface of the milk.

Step 2: Place a cotton bud into dish-washing liquid and then carefully touch this to the surface of the milk in a range of places...

What is causing the colours to dance and move?

You make popcorn...

Place cooking oil in the base of a pot and place raw popcorn kernels on top. Turn the element to a high heat and cover the pot with a lid.

Watch what happens to the kernels as they heat up...

What fun we had experimenting with heat and colour here at school. We might even be able to try some of these experiments at home!
